Now this is a Fun Discussion

I'm part way through the discussion of Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice and I have to say it has been an amusing discussion so far.  I have to commend Benjamin for his courage in attacking the novel and Austen, though I personally believe he is on the wrong side of the argument.  But it does make for an interesting discussion.  On a side note, are you sure your professor said Wuthering Heights (1847) was a romance novel in the  Harlequin bodice ripper romance sense or did the professor mean it was a romance novel in that it was a product of the Romantic era of literature that originated in 18th century in England?  Just wondering.

And Hanna, better check your syllabus ;) because yes, we will be watching the BBC mini-series adaptation of the novel (though not until next week).  Actually, that is the reason why I chose this selection, so that you could compare a film adaptation to a mini-series adaptation.   Well, I better get back to reading the rest of your posts. This is good stuff.
